Forget
Forget all of it. You sink deeper into their arms, letting the memories wash away. The pit in your stomach grows, but that’s a familiar feeling. You’re good at brushing that away. You sit down next to them, and forget. You love them. That’s all you need. They smile, and hold your shoulders.
“You made the right choice.”
You did. You know that now. Time passed, and you fell back into a sense of monotony. You never really let go of the fact that you had to forget, but eventually things ended up feeling normal.
It hurt when they started to yell at you again. It hurt worse when they hit you.
They showed less affection than you wanted but it was still there. They still loved you. You didn’t have anywhere you could go, but you couldn’t shake the feeling that there was somewhere you wanted to go. Someone you missed. It didn’t matter though, because ultimately you made your choice. And you couldn’t forget that. They wouldn’t let you.
